10 Tactics for turning information into action in BURMA
The Tactical Technology Collective have today released one of their technology support materials, 10 tactics for turning information into action, in Burmese. The full materials can be viewed online (www.informationactivism.org/my/) or downloaded from the website.
10 Tactics provides original and artful ways for rights advocates to capture attention and communicate a cause. It includes a 50-minute film documenting inspiring info-activism stories from around the world and a set of cards; with tools tips and advice, for you to work through as you plan your own info-activism.
BBC Click Program called 10 Tactics “a handbook in how best to disseminate ideas”; the Ecologist Magazine said it is “a must-see documentary” and Infochange India named it "A totem pole for a brave new virtual world.”

Volunteers have now created subtitles for the 10 tactics film in more than 20 languages and the film has been screened more than 200 times in over 60 countries.
The inspiration and much of the materials for this project emerged from Tactical Tech's 2009 info-activism camp where 130 rights advocates, technologists and designers from around the world gathered to share skills, experience and knowledge. Tactical Tech decided to document the success stories of these info-activists to inspire and support others.
Tanya Notley, who managed the project, says “We hope these stories can be used to inspire others. The video and cards provide the sort of in-depth background information you usually don't have access to. People have told us how much their digital activism cost, what tools they used, what skills they needed, what the local context was and they have revealed exactly what happened. We hope all of this information can now be used by activists in Burma to support and develop their own ideas for rights advocacy.”
